KICs at the TU Berlin
Founded in 2008 as the
Institute of the European Commission, the EIT promotes European
innovation culture and sustainable competitiveness. The funding
instrument of the EIT are several Knowledge and Innovation Communities
(KICs) that consist of large consortia of 50 to 200 partners.
KICs themselves act as funding organizations and develop their own calls targeting innovative solutions for societal challenges. They are subject to the regulations of Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation. Basically, the programs of the KICs offer support for all actors in the knowledge triangle of education, research and business. The aim is to accelerate urgently needed innovation processes through application-oriented research, investment and training programs as well as technology transfer activities.
The TU Berlin is a partner in the Climate-KIC and EIT Digital. Employees can thus participate in all tenders of the two KICs. In addition, participation as an external third party in the other KICs can also take place. For more information on program types, see Service and Consultation - KIC Application.
